Rosewater & Soda Bread
Hi Sepideh
I have just finished reading a book you might like called Rosewater & Soda Bread. It is about 3 Iranian women who escape to Ireland back in the 80s and open a cafe selling Iranian food. There is a little bit of a love story in it but it is mostly about the women and the food.
It even has some recipes at the back for Gormeh Sabzi, Chickpea cookies, Ajil, New Year's Kuku, Tacheen - not sure of these make sense to you? The author is Marsha Mehran.
She also refers to a concept called sohbat - the Farsi word for space. She describes this as more than just a light conversation, more than everyday speech but the area inhabited
by two souls during deep & truthful conversation What does Joon -e-man mean? This book is available at the public library or at least it will be when I return it. Our theme for the book club this month is about food and I found this one by accident but found it to be a nice story so I
thought I would share it with you.
Keep smiling
Ben
